Major trigger warning on rape and suicide in the prologue.

A retelling of Beauty and the Beast, with a mafia twist…definitely no complaints from me!

I was death, and she was life. I thought I’d had stolen her, brought her down to the underworld. All the while she was waking me up. Stirring the blood in my veins. Breathing air into my lungs.

The story was crafted so vividly, with great plot developments and suspense that kept me hooked. I liked seeing Miko realize that Nessa wasn’t just the spoiled princess with her head in the clouds like he assumed she was. She’s smart and uses whatever she can find to get an upper hand. I loved the bond that formed between Klara and Nessa even though they had a language barrier at first. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.
