My actual ranking is 3 1/2 stars out of 5. I believe this book would have benefited more if it had either embraced the slight supernatural elements more fully, or left them out altogether. It was, however, another excellent thriller by Koryta. The first in a series of at least two books so far featuring Mark Novak, a man on a mission to find out what happened to his wife.

RISE THE DARK is the second book and next on my TBR pile!
