Barrel Fever by David Sedaris
4.0

Back when I first got into David Sedaris' work, I gave Barrel Fever a spin and didn't care much for it. I stalled out a little way in. I'd read a lot of his more famous works and had seen him life. This early effort, especially the stories, seemed not up to his usual standard. But revisiting it the last few days, via the audiobook version (read by Sedaris and, in places, his sister Amy) is a real treat. So, while it isn't his best work, it's still really solid and fun, especially when Sedaris reads it.
