Pretending You Are Mine by Marie Higgins

4.0

I was skeptical at first, as this historical fiction takes a few liberties with the facts of life and women in the 1700s. But it wasn't long before the fun of the story overrode any historical errors. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this rolicking ride: espionage, mistaken identity, mysteries, sexual tension, and the very real flaws of human beings (like remembering loved ones as better folk than they are). It's a nice love story, combined with political intrigue and a few twists, and made for a quick and entertaining time. I recommend it for fans of historical romance, Shakespearean plot twists, strong female characters, and the Colonial time period.
