Hollywood Monster: A Walk Down Elm Street with the Man of Your Dreams by Alan Goldsher, Robert Englund

4.0

Robert Englund is probably my favorite character actor. But beyond being Freddy Krueger and a few small roles in horror films I didn't know much about him. I was pleased to read about how he ended up in films and his early days of being on the stage. I think so often we look at character actors as one note people but this shows that Englund embraced the fact that he will always be Freddy to a contingent of the population. (Also, because we were too young to appreciate 'V') I'm sure that plenty of things about his life/career that were held back from the pages but what we were given satiated. And we got a few neat lists including his favorite Freddy quotes.
This book goes on the shelf next to Gunnar Hansen's memoir about filming "Texas Chain Saw Massacre."
