FIRST BOOK OF THE NEW YEAR as a 90s moomin cartoon watcher… for anyone new to the moomins and wants to find a good starting point to the moomins, I would highly recommend this book! I like this book because it introduces you to many main characters of the series, this book features many first meetings of characters that would appear oftenly in the series and perfectly showcases their characteristics really well. this book is one big story with a continuous storyline instead of bits and chunks of scattered stories ( I haven’t read the other moomin books yet and from what I know they are comprising of short tales ) which makes it easy to follow and read. I like how this book has agency to it however, in the end it is revealed that the comet just passes by moominvalley and nothing catastrophic happens the foreshadowing with the animals making the star symbol, moomin and friends rushing to meet the scientists to know what is happening, the crazy things that happened while rushing back to moominvalley ( snufkin breaking down is the craziest thing to see cause snufkin is portrayed as this wise and cool character ) , how the characters are in constant fear of the comet … a very big adventure and a good read. giving it high ratings cause it help me overcome my reading block also I love love loveeee the moomin series.
