Usually I need a break between KR books cos they're heavy af but I can't resist this couple's story/romance, so.
This is basically PI and detective trying stop people from killing her. I super adored him. He's gruff, honorable, capable and would sacrifice anything for her. His love for her is so absolute. While she's tough and resilient, she's too stubborn about danger and *really* frustrating in denying her feelings. I disliked how she keeps pulling him in and then pushing him away.
The theme of grief is also a little too heavy for me. But they're good together and once they get to it, their chemistry and the sex is hot (though not a lot of it), though they could have *more* couple-y times after all that angst I'd been put through! The suspense is top notch evil KR stuff and it's a chase as usual, with some favourite side characters making solid showing. The MMCs in the Baltimore series so far have just been absolute treasures.
