The Dire King by William Ritter
5.0
What a great conclusion to a great series.
I fell in love with the quirky world of Jackaby from the very first book. Detective stories are not anything new, and this one is quite similar to Sherlock Holmes in many ways, so one would argue not very original, but the supernatural elements really set it apart from anything I've ever read.
I will not go into any detail as to the plot of this one, because I don't want to spoil anything, but it was suspenseful from the get go, not wasting any time for fillers. A lot happens in those 340 pages.
My rating sat at 4 stars for the duration of this book UNTIL the very last page. After that ending, I needed to give it 5 stars.
I will miss this series and those characters a lot. I would die for a spin off series, because I'm just not ready to say goodbye to everyone.
