Within a few pages, I knew I was going to like this book. As a childhood friend of his younger sister, Griff and Kathryn have always butted heads. There’s just something about Kathryn that makes Griff want to verbally spar with her every time they meet and adulthood hasn’t changed that.

Growing up Kathryn knew she needed to marry a titled gentleman, before she turned 25, in order to fulfill her inheritance requirements. She has no time to waste on annoying second sons as her 25th looms closer and closer…so why can’t she seem to stay away from Griff?

Griff has always been disregarded and ignored since he’s considered a spare to the heir. Determined to find his own fortune and prove he’s worth more he’s planning to start his own business. Having heard Kathryn talk negatively about second sons he knows that she’ll never see him as anyone special…which is fine…isn’t it? She’s irritating and aggravating…so why can’t he stop imagining a life with her?

I absolutely adored the banter between these two especially as they attempt to fight the growing attraction they have since they’re not suited…or so they think. Watching them attempt to put the needs/wants, or what they assume are the needs/wants, of the other first…no matter how much it hurts them had me wanting to tightly hug them both and tell them to follow their hearts instead of their minds.

We get reluctant conspirators, falling for your best friend’s brother, mystery, and so much more. Currently planning to jump immediately into book two and thinking I need to pre-order book 3 which drops later this month!
