A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik

4.0

The first half of the book is a bit of a slog to get through. That’s the only reason I give it less than five stars. El is a deeply mistrustful character and that shows in the fact she would rather be introspective about her world and give the reader long paragraphs of world building exposition than build relationships with characters. After you get through the first half of A Deadly Education it reads quickly because of her relationships with Liu, Aadhya, and of course Orion Lake.
I got to the kicking my feet in my bed while reading stage when Orion finally kissed Galadriel. And the t-shirt of course that was the cherry on top. Fuck the enclave kids except him and I hope to god that Chloe becomes better in the second book.
