The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

5.0

I read Beloved by Toni Morrison a couple of years ago and a lot of it made me uncomfortable and went over my head.

The Bluest Eye was such an interesting and important book and again I can’t believe this was a debut novel.  This was rlly difficult to read at times bc of the subject matter and the trauma involved, but it painted such a vivid picture in such a short amount of pages.  Also the discussions on self hatred and the impact of words and ugliness on how someone views themselves and their race and social standing was super interesting - esp in the context of skin colour.

I feel like this is required reading ngl
