A Dream Called Home by Reyna Grande

4.0

Can’t say enough how meaningful it is to be able to read about characters, places, and feelings you know and can relate to because of a shared cultural experience. Grande beautifully captures the immigrant experience and challenged me to think about the ways in which I have engaged or forgotten my ancestral homeland and its culture. But mostly, it made me proud to read our stories instead of what is usually available. I needed more books like these growing up, but now I’m just glad to be able to share them with my kids.
