Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton
The groundwork is building into the mysteries.
The Darvishes are an interesting couple.
I can see how things might go. The creepy guy has an unusual background. And he treats his employees really poorly.
Well, I did not see that coming. Reminds of The Departed. Whew! I need to think on this before rating.
I agree with Tony. It is blood money. I don't care for billionaire philanthropy; they're just trying to make up a better image to counter the truth of how they got that money: exploited labor, tax avoidance, and other shady things instead of just being a good person with good corporate practices.
