Dangerous Depths by Karen Amanda Hooper

3.0

I found this book pretty disappointing after giving [b:Tangled Tides|18683541|Tangled Tides (The Sea Monster Memoirs, #1)|Karen Amanda Hooper|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1381965415s/18683541.jpg|17013986] 5 stars. It was ok, but it felt sort of like filler.

There was no expansion on the mythology, besides learning of Harte's existence, but I felt like it didnt really add anything to the story. There was no added depth to Yara and her people. It was just a detour to rescue Vienna and return back to the story. I dont know if Vienna will be important in the next installment, or if saving her was just so that we could see Rownan get an HEA too.

And I didnt really like Harte either. It felt like it was never going to end and I couldnt wait for them to get out of there. It took way too long. But I still enjoy the characters, and I especially enjoyed seeing a different side of Rownan. I never would have suspected what kind of relationship him and Treygan had from their behaviour in book 1.

So, this wasnt a bad little adventure, but it was less than I was expecting. I am hoping for an epic conclusion in [b:Sacred Seas|18683519|Sacred Seas (The Sea Monster Memoirs, #3)|Karen Amanda Hooper|/assets/nocover/60x80.png|26522861].
