The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

5.0

I finished this book at 3am. I cannot even explain how much of a grip this book has had on me while I was reading it. As someone who has almost no knowledge about Afghanistan, I must say this book introduced me a bit to the Afghan culture and traditions and made me realize how similar we are in regards to those aspects. I know many people find it boring or even cliched but I absolutely loved how everything was connected. I find it absolutely necessary for Amir's character development for his past to haunt him in his present and having to face his enemies as an adult.

The one thing that I loved the most about this book was the writing. I loved how we might be enjoying a heartfelt moment and the next sentence would totally crumble it down telling us about the present. For example, they're all having a laugh, and the next line would be and that was the last time we ever saw each other again, or three of those people were killed. I think it brought the rawness and hardship of life and war people experience. I found myself countless of times just tearing up or even sobbing because I'd remember what happened to each character and what made them act the way they did.

Honestly, I reckon this might be the best book I've ever read and I can definitely say it might even be my favorite book now.
