If I hadn't read the previous two novels, I would have enjoyed this book more. The storyline isn't bad, it's just disappointing. (Also reminded me of Evan Winter's Rage of Dragons in an unimpressive way.)
I didn't mind the narrator switch from Bahni Turpin to Cynthia Ervio; their styles are drastically different. Neither good or bad feelings in that regard. I just feel like we went from Wakanda to Amistad and ended up in Jumanji instead of Òrìṣà.
