An ambitious, beautiful, although at times hard-to-stomach book that truly everyone should read. It chronicles the lives of several generations of a family as they navigate slavery, drug use, sexual abuse, ambition, relationships, success, and so much more. It's hard to know what to say about it other than I loved the characters, the ways the different time periods and stories were weaved together, and the prose throughout.
