The Black Flower is the most wonderful book, in the most gut-wrenching, heart breaking, earth shattering way. This is definitely not an easy read; not only will you have to devote the time to read it, but you will also have to take the time afterwards to let the enormity and weight of Bushrod Carter’s story settle in.

Although the ending was predictable, I was hung in suspense the whole time, waiting on how each individual strand of the story would intertwine.
