At first, Room was so intriguing and bizarre that you had to keep reading it. It kept my attention the entire time, although a little less after "The Great Escape". It served its purpose as an eye-opening anecdote to humanity and human relations and the alarming subjects of rape, abuse, and abduction.
The only thing that bothered me was Jack. Sure, he was raised in a shed with no one but his mother, but at times, his point of view was highly alarming and annoying. One thing I didn't like was that the book was seen through the eyes of a character that didn't really develop until the very last page.
