This is one of the most solid, well-rounded five stars I have ever given. Everything about this book was done perfectly. Usually with any five star I give there are still a few small critiques that I have or things I wish were a bit different. Not this book. There is not a single thing I would change here. There was everything I look for when I am reading. To start with the characters. I adored both Jonah and Dylan. As individual characters, they were both so strong. They felt real, with their issues and their fears and their passions. They also each had strong development, learning to trust and let each other in. In particular, I loved Jonah’s growth. Both Jonah and Dylan ended the book as better and stronger characters than they started. As for them as a couple, I was rooting for them the entire time. They had chemistry from the get go, and the more I learned about each of them the more amazingly compatible they became. Along side the fantastic main characters was a lovable cast of side characters. I especially loved Mik and Lily. Each side character helped the main characters in some way, but were also their own unique people. As for the plot, while the main plot was the romance, there was other conflict. Both Jonah and Dylan had conflicts going on in their individual lives that they had to overcome. It added more tension and angst to the story, and greatly contributed to the character development of both main characters and facilitated parts of their relationship development. The ending was a satisfying resolution while still open enough to feel accurate for high school students. Lastly, in terms of overall writing style, it was fantastic. The two first person points of view felt distinctly different. The pacing was well done and pulled me along without feeling rushed. Overall, this was an incredibly well written book with amazing characters and I highly recommend it.
