Excellent book an about the man who may become Britain’s next Prime Minister. His father was a tool maker, his mother a nurse who lived with a disability for many years . he went to a state school where he excelled in playing the flute, playing football, and academics. he had a full ride to study law at U of Leeds, then Oxford. He became a barrister and criminal defense lawyer. he used english law to end death penalty applications agst poor people of color in Commonwealth countries among his legal public service jobs . he then became the Queen’s and country’s chief prosecutor. He started out as a socialist/marxist but is a more pragmatic progressive now. he lives in North London (his constituency)  where he bought his first house to be in walking distance of the stadium where Arsenal plays as he is a huge Arsenal fan. he is married to a lawyer who now works for the NHS and they have two children. He became and MO later in life and seems genuinely committed to making things better for people rather than pushing some agenda. he’s not so flashy and slick as tony blair but he’s got the same instincts to play the midfield. He certainly doesn’t fit the mold of a PM- a smart, music loving, football playing Arsenal fan and lawyer with a working class background and a multicultural family including a smart wife with her own career and a pragmatic view of politics. a fascinating study.
