Suddenly Last Summer by Sarah Morgan

5.0

As soon as I knew there was going to be more from the O'Neil brothers I just couldn't wait to get my hands on the next book and thankfully I didn't have a long wait thanks to Netgalley...

There is already a different cover out which I prefer to this one as this one seems a bit cheesy and I don't believe that these models are Élise and Sean. I do love the use of colours though as it looks like summer which is fitting with the title of the book.

Although I loved this book I just didn't love it as much as the first one in this series for no reason other than I believed in Jackson's and Kayla's story but not so much with Sean and Élise. I think this could be because throughout the book both of the characters didn't believe or even want to fall in love but then all of a sudden the L word is getting thrown around without the thought behind this sudden 'change' yes as a reader I could tell they both had feelings for one another but they didn't think they did. Usually I love the alternating perspectives between the male and female character but because of this when they all of a sudden realised their feelings it was from the other persons point of view. It was great that we got to see how Jackson and Kayla was getting on and also setting us up for Tyler's story which I am very excited about. I loved most of this book but just towards the end it felt a bit rushed which was why I couldn't give the full 5 out of 5 rating.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this book as I wasn't sure what to make of Sean as we didn't get to see much of him in the first book but seeing as this was his story we got to see a whole lot more of him and I liked what we got. We got to find out why he hardly visited his family which made a lot of sense once we found out. I loved that he had a bit more edge to him than Jackson but for me it's still Jackson that's my favourite which could all change in the next book as it's Tyler and from the glimpses we have had I'm already halfway in love with him. Élise had a lot more issues than we knew about from the first book which was a shock really as she is so sweet and kind its hard to imagine she could be that way with what she had been through. She wasn't just this sweet and kind person but she also had a lot of passion for the things and people she loved.

Overall another great book from Sarah Morgan it just wasn't as good as the first book in the O'Neil Brothers series.
