A Crown of Hopes and Sorrows by Nicole Bailey

I enjoyed this more than the first one! This series is definitely different from the author’s first series so I kept getting caught up in comparing them. But there just no comparing them. This series (so far) is a romance set in a fantasy world. I am hoping the next book will have some more adventure/battle scenes with the war that’s coming in the story because the author writes those so well.

My favorite part was Temi’s story. Her discovery of who she is and stepping into her role. She’s much less reluctant than I expected. I also wonder if believing she was a mortal for so long will change her perspective on being a goddess compared to Apollos. I am eager to see what her relationship with Poseidon grows into with the next book. I feel like he truly loves her but is unwilling to say the words because he’s a god. He didn’t have to heal Pip at the end. He did so willingly. He knew Pip was Temi’s best friend. Sounds like a loving father to me?
