Junk Shop Blues by Cole McCade
4.0

“Why can’t the bad guys just be…obviously bad guys?” “Because humans do not work in such a fashion,” Seong-Jae replied. “Very few people are unequivocally, unilaterally ‘good’ or ‘bad.’”

This book was just as amazing as the first one! We’ve started to learn more about Malcolm and Seong-Jae, and more of their mysterious pasts have started to be revealed. I’m curious about Malcolm’s history with his ex-wife, and what Seong-Jae experienced during his time with the LAPD ;)

Malcolm, Seong-Jae thought, was not a creature of sunlight and brightness. He, like most old wolves, was made to run under the silver light of the moon, then vanish unseen into the dark.

They’ve also started opening a bit more to each other, which is exciting! This series is definitely a slow-burn, so I’m starting to appreciate every scene with both protagonists present! I mean, there were some amazingly significant scenes between them that were romantic on such an intellectual level <3

So it felt strange to know the taste of the soft, sighing sounds of Seong-Jae on his tongue, and know that every time he called the man’s name he was speaking to him with an intimacy that only Seong-Jae himself fully understood.

I didn’t like the actual case as much as the last one because it was less emotional and didn’t hit home quite as much, but the action and suspense were even better! I did predict who the murderer was before it was revealed but it wasn’t obvious.
