Cross by Sumiko revolves around Takara Amakusa, the young priest protagonist whose code name is Cross. He meets Shizuha Matsuri who also has strange abilities. The story goes on with other encounters but towards the end of the volume you start to piece  together Shizuha’s stubborn personality along with Takara’s inquisitive demeanor. Hints of romance are evident but both characters are also poised for a bigger plot to unravel dealing with their abilities. 

I’ve definitely found my favorite genre/niche! This is a mix of real Catholic-Christian traditions with Jewish elements. Side note: The little mini bibliography/reference page in the back made my historical research brain happy heh
