The Star Beast by Robert A. Heinlein
3.0

A fun adventure for kids in the 11 to 17 age group who like aliens and space travel. A good amount of humor that adults will enjoy too. Lummox is a pretty cool alien with near superpowers. Eating whole cars and immune to poison, drowning, and bullets. Big as an elephant and tough as a tank. Lummox is treated like a pet, but it's really the one in charge.
There are good messages regarding assumptions about other peoples and cultures and human pride. I didn't care for the teenage rebellion tone and Johnnie's awful relationship with his mother - plays to that "adults don't know anything" phase some kids go through. Still a nice light read, though.
