The Last Thing She Told Me
by Linda Green
This book really should have come with trigger warnings around abuse. Whilst I wasn’t expecting it, it did become apparent quite early on that this was where the plot was heading, and it did take me by surprise. Would I have picked this up had I known? Probably not to be honest, but overall the story was good… a little slow in places though.
The characters were good and you do slowly learn more about them, making the chapters towards the end emotional enough to hit home.
Overall I did enjoy this, and I flew through it, but my main issue with this book is around the writing itself. It was okay, but not brilliant. The plot kept it going and the characters propped it up enough to be a solid 3.5/4 star from me.
