Wounds: A Memoir of War and Love
by Fergal Keane
Loath to criticise something for the story it isn't rather than the one it is, but there's a wide gulf between the book Keane's engaging prologue teases and the one you close the final page on—I found it hard not to wonder what might have been. Without that intro and the probing questions it sets up to hang unengaged with over all the rest, I might have enjoyed this personal-political historical reflection much more.
