The Sight of Demons: The Master of Perceptions, Book One by Darin C. Brown
5.0
It's interesting.
When you first find the title, you might think that this would be a fantasy book riddled with demons and the supernatural and the like. It's not, but I think it is something much more essential.
Despite the suggestion to skip the prologue first, I chose to read it, knowing that somewhere down the road, the answers to the questions that will be ingrained into my mind while reading it. I like it when books lure you in with these little mysteries that will be answered as you go along because I think it's a great way to keep the reader engaged with the work.
That said, I did have some trouble on my part getting into the story - I think the pacing was a bit slow for my taste - but once I did, I found that I enjoy the story very much. It was particularly interesting to see how young Hunter associated with people and see him happier than he had been at the beginning of the story. It's a story of acceptance, and hope, and realizing how powerful we are. It's a story that tells us to embrace ourselves, because it's our differences that makes us unique in our own way, makes us powerful to go through the day, makes us push back against the way the world sees us.
Overall, it's very interesting, and certainly unlike most of the books I have read before. Highly recommended!
A big kudos to Dr. Brown, and I do apologize for taking so long with this book! <3
