To Chase the Sun by Craig Randall
5.0
I was gifted this book of poetry by the author, the review is my own honest opinion.
I love the personal introduction in the beginning of this book of poetry by Randall. They lay bare the struggles he had to deal with and the healing nature of the poetry he writes - both in this collection and the others. It gives a story for you to follow, and you can see it unfold as you read each poem. From the chaotic, melancholy mind-dump of the beginning poems, to the ordering of his thoughts in the middle, to the more hopeful healing and insightful poems at the end.
This truly is inspiring, encouraging those who need an outlet to shell out our struggles to to pick up a book and write. Not necessarily poetry, but writing none-the-less. A way to release the pressure when there's no ear to listen at the time, or you can't speak out your thoughts in a legible fashion that's better suited for scribbled words on paper.
There are several poems in this collection that I found enjoyable, and this is such a quick read, that I will more than likely pick it up to reread occasionally when I need a pick-me-up in poetry form.
