Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because I am very triggered by blood and gore. I figured I’d read a few pages and see if I could handle it and the writing just pulled me in. I was horrified and a part of it really got me and I had to take a break for a day. I finished it in 2 days (nonconsecutive). Very graphic, sad, and miserable. The ending pissed me off so much I threw the book but the book is good. It’s a horrible story written in a very captivating way. Kinda like a car crash or tragedy you just can’t pull your eyes away from. It has changed me. I don’t know how, I’m still processing it. I just feel this profound sense of dread that I could see this happening in our world. Definitely brain chemistry altering, for me at least.
