Paul Up North by Michel Rabagliati

4.0

I thoroughly enjoyed this very Canadian graphic novel that is part of a longer semi-autobiographical series. There is a tremendous amount of empathy for Paul as he navigates the ups and downs of adolescence in 1970s Quebec, covering friendships, parents and first loves against the backdrop of Quebec unions, separatism and the 1976 Olympics. I loved the artwork with its bold, clean lines. Can't wait to read the rest of the English translations of this series.
