I began reading this series as a chaser to “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series because that book got me out of a reading slump, and I thought that more Jenny Han could propel me into reading more. While I wasn’t wrong, I also wasn’t right. This book was really cute. To me, It is the OG fake dating trope. However, it was noting special to write home about in my opinion. Maybe it is because I loved TSITP so much, and this didn't give me the same “burning” that it did, or maybe because I kept comparing it to the movie and thinking about all the things that were different between the movie and the book, or maybe it’s because I can’t relate to Lara Jean as much as I can relate to Belly. Something just didn't click for it with me. I still really enjoyed it, but I was expecting to love this as much as I loved TSITP and I didn’t. Regardless, it was still a very cute book, and I liked it, I just didn’t love it. I will probably still read the rest of the series.
