The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake

5.0

5 stars - really enjoyed the slow pace of this and emphasis on character development. Definitely disagree with some reviews that say all the characters felt the same! Given the premise of the book, a lot of the relationships between characters are strained by competition (which does feel a bit repetitive), but I felt their backstories and motivations were compelling enough. It definitely could be shorter though, given this book really just sets things up for subsequent entries in the series.

I enjoyed seeing such a diverse cast and how it touches on important social issues as well - I feel like not enough urban fantasies do this! The foreshadowing is really subtle but good, and while the twists are surprising they definitely don’t feel entirely out of left field.

Will probably post more detailed thoughts on Bookstagram this week as well!
