Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

I NEED someone in my life to read this series because it is ABSOLUTELY fantastic. The plot has progressed so much from Throne of Glass and I will convince my friends to read this series because it's so good. This book is definitely my favorite out of the entire series. I would recommend reading The Assassins Blade before you read this novel because a lot of characters and plot in The Assassins Blade are mentioned in Queen of Shadows and are pretty central to the plot.

First off, the plot and pacing of this book was so good. There was literally never a dull moment in this book and its 650 GODDAMN PAGES. All of the action scenes are so well written and make me want to read moooore. The main evil and plot we are introduced to in the first book is so expanded in all of these books and I find that beautiful. Not to mention all the world building and how much the world has expanded completely amazes me.

SpoilerNext, I'm gonna talk about characters and ships because lets be real, that's what we are all here to discuss.
I was never really on board with either Chaol/Aelin or Dorian/Aelin so having Rowan/Aelin be a thing is some thing I'm totally on board with. (Although tbh I was on Team Sam but he died). Their relationship does seem a bit sudden but at the same time they are so close already it just kinda makes sense for them to have this romantic relationship.
Aedion and Lysandra is totally gonna happen, I call it now.
Lysandra and Aelin's friendship is TO DIE FOR. We totally need more female friendships in YA.
Elide and Manon is one of my personal ships that I know other people ship but also I know Maas is going to have Manon and Dorian be a thing sooooo.
Chaol and Nesryn seems rushed to me and tbh I don't ship it but if their happy, I'll be fine.
Lastly, a ship I ship pretty hard that I don't think any one else ships is Chaol and Dorian because of how FREAKING LOYAL they are to each other and how it was Chaol's death that brought Dorian out of being possessed.

Also tbh I don't trust the king, but I do think Erawan is free

That spoiler was just about the relationships so yeah.

I do feel like some of the characterization was off, but overall I'm not that upset about it because the plot, writing style, and the pure awesomeness of this series outweighs it all.

This book did line my eyes with silver a lot though, just as a warning ;)

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY READ THIS SERIES, BECAUSE I WILL FORCE ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO READ THIS SERIES I SWEAR.
