OMG...
I went into this book without any expectations. All I knew was the fact that they were short stories that effortlessly blended personal and political.

There were a few stories where it took a while until I realized what was going on (especially the last two stories) but as soon as it did! 😮

I love how Choi writes extremely normal and ordinary characters, yet is able to make you feel and care for them in such a short time. It feels so real and raw and you will keep thinking about every story.

The pain range of this book is
unrequited love <-----------> death
so do take that into account before reading! These are by no means feelgood stories, but they are stories you will find yourself thinking about days later.

My personal favorites are...
shoko's smile, xin chào xin chào and a song from afar
