Hot Cop by Sierra Simone, Laurelin Paige

I enjoyed this book. I honestly would have given it a higher rating if it wasn't for the annoying "useless after 30" theme. I get it, the FMC is 29 and she thinks her life is going to be over when she turns 30 because that's when you "start to slowly die".... As a 39 year old woman, I find this whole mentality incredibly offensive. There were also a lot of comments about needing to have a baby before she turns 30 because being "old" and having babies is not ideal or something along those lines. I honestly blocked out a lot of that ageist crap so I don't remember exactly what was said, I just remember feeling completely excluded from the audience because I'm not in my 20's. This is part of the character's neurosis that grows into acceptance of turning 30 but it's still annoying as fuck. The only reason I enjoyed this book so much is because Chase is written SO WELL. Finally, a book that celebrates the sexiness of CONSENT. Chase is a breath of fresh air in a clusterfuck of alpha-male led romances. I actually really loved the dynamic between the two main characters. Even though the baby plot is kind of ridiculous and something I can't relate to, I genuinely enjoyed their chemistry. This gets a bonus star for all the hot smut, really well written sexy times. A+
