Walk the Edge

Kathy McGarry's books have a formula which can seem overdone and cliche but it is entertaining. Yet she often infuses her books with a touch of realism and that is why I can't help enjoying her books. Here we have the done to death good girl bad boy situation. But with depth. Both Breanna and Thomas "Razor" have their own struggles. I was glad that the reader saw enough of both and it never help like one was more important than the other. The duo povs helped.
Compared to the previous book, this one goes into the inner workings of the Reign of Terror Motocycle Club and explains how it works. All the secrets and "I can't tell you" near well made me crazy as Razor because I wanted to know! The reader finds out that he is carrying a weight since the death of his mother, he does not know how to move on because the circumstances are so suspicious. He finds himself questioning whether he can trust the club.
Due to his past and drama with his father he does not trust easily. I found his character to be quite cliche but I like how he is more than he seems. Liked that the author touched on how a child deals when their parents moves on after the other passes away or leaves. Loved how honest Razor was when he admitted he regretted the first time he had sex. I did not like how he always made promises, it makes them seem umimportant.
Breanna was more deeper than I expected. She was struggling with all the expectations on her and being part of a big family. It is not sunshine and rainbows as she is constantly called upon to be the surrogate parent and has to put her needs aside for others. That really hurt me because I felt that she does not need this kind of pressure. Her mind is quite unique in the sense that she needs to be occupied and challenged and of not she will go stir crazy.
I felt that she could have abit of ADHD but I might be wrong. It was very easy to see how people.vould easily misread and mislabel her for how she is. I found I could relate to her in some aspects and she made for a very interesting main character. She is the epitome of the good girl but she likes adventure too.
Really happy that she stood firm against cheating and she was a rwally kind person. She cared for those who did such terrible things to her. Good that the author touched on cyber bullying but how it turned out felt unrealistic. I felt for her friend, Addison and how she is being abused at home but does not want to speak up. I can understand how people can have hidden natures.
I think their relationship was written in quite a realistic way. There was definitely going to be problems seeing as how they come from two different worlds and the whole town fears the Reign of Terror. When he explains to her how the club is like, the secrets and parties, it was hard for her to take it in and it was real things she needed to take into consideration. They had lots of steamy scenes.
I like that the problems that come up in this book or previous ones are not just solved in a short span of time but they carry on and it takes quite a long time to actually solve and sometimes not at all. Like you hear about them again in future books and it is not jist swept under the rug. That is why I like her books.
The way their relationship was at the end of the book felt rushed and even though I could feel that the author tried for realistic, I was not entirely convinced. But I like the message that despite having a relationship, you should pursue what you want to do.
I am quite excited for Violet's book and the plot still continues on.
