There were times I had to put this book down because I couldn’t bear to read what was about to happen, and times where I couldn’t put it down because I had to know what would happen next. I thought the characters were really well developed and I felt for them all deeply. The witchy element was definitely a bit strange at times, leaning towards ironic, but it worked for me. I don’t read much horror but I think this was a nice balance of horror with literary fiction for my tastes. It’s a story that will make you cringe, rage, despair, and hope.
