Paper Son: The Inspiring Story of Tyrus Wong, Immigrant and Artist by Julie Leung

4.0

I checked this out after it won the Asian/Pacific American picture book award at ALA 2021. It is a gorgeous book, and it led me to do more research on Tyrus Wong. Despite losing his job at Disney, he was very successful, especially with Hallmark. I found many articles about him and even a "CBS Sunday Morning" story about him, even a Google Doodle. I did recognize the picture of him in the watercolor advertisement. I wish the book had included more about his family. He was honored by Disney in 2001, and even had a PBS "American Masters" film made about him.
