Trees are living beings but do they have consciousness; in this novel one of the narrators is a fig tree that migrated from Cyprus to England. She will tell you the history of Cyprus and what happened in the civil war in 1974, how neighbors turned from friends to foes because of their ethnicity.
Elif Shafak is brilliant in giving you important information about unpopular parts in the world through her magnificent storytelling. She is the master of transferring knowledge through storytelling.
