To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

inspiring reflective fast-paced

Another one from my "re-reading classics" pile. I know I've read this before at some point and I'm SO GLAD I decided to read it again. This book is absolutely phenomenal. And sadly, incredibly relevant all these decades later. Incredible that she essentially wrote one book and it was a Pulitzer Prize Winner. If you're only going to write one, make it a banger. Now this one, I can understand why conservatives go crazy over this book. There's the N word a lot. There's rape. There's black on white sex. But probably what drives them most crazy is that there is a sense of injustice and that the white trash people are the true bad guys of this story. I think more than anything else, that's what they really hate about this book. All that said, to me this book is SO WORTHY of being taught in schools. So worthy. I would absolutely let my young daughter read this, and I will encourage her to do so when she's a little older. This book is absolutely phenomenal. I tore through it. I loved it all the way. Thematically it's outstanding. And holy hell.....we still haven't learned these lessons.  A+ book. A masterpiece.
