Fourth Wing
by Rebecca Yarros
Thoughts: I read it and I finished it, I finally read Fourth Wing! I know I'm super late to the game, but I think part of me was worried that I'd be disappointed/not love it like everyone else has, hence why I waited for hype to die down a little before picking this one up. Also, the reason that I finally picked this up was that my husband's friend read this recently and really enjoyed it, which got my husband to read it, and so I thought 'I may as well!'.
The first half felt slow for me, but I think that was a bit of my own doing as I wasn't in the biggest reading mood and so wasn't reading it consistently. But I was surprised at how much easier it was to follow and understand than I expected, which I was pleased about. I often worry that fantasy will just go straight over my head. The second half however went by a lot quicker as I got more into the story and I really started to enjoy it a lot more, and then of course I loved the ending.
All in all, I can understand why people love this book so much, but personally I don't love it as much as others. I still highly recommend it and will definitely pick up Iron Flame at some point. I'm glad to now know what everyone has been talking about!
