Wait for It by Mariana Zapata

Mariana Zapata takes her time and leisurely tells her stories... with a notoriously slow burn. This time it's a love story with a refreshingly blue collar couple. Diana is a young aunt with a heart of gold who took over the raising of her brother's boys when he died. And Dallas is her prickly neighbor who coaches her older nephew's baseball team. We spend a lot of time in Diana's head but that didn't really bother me. She's loving and just a bit immature, so sometimes she seems more like the boys' older sister than their aunt/mom. But she loves the boys like crazy and that comes through loud and clear.

There are a few major CWs, especially surrounding the accidental and then suicidal deaths of Diana's brother and sister-in-law. But it was the minor CWs that got to me. Why did Zapata have to give them head lice? I'll probably be scratching my head for days to come. And Diana had a migraine just as I was trying to rid myself of an awful one. So I didn't really want to read about it at the time. And Diana's mother was pretty awful. We are given an excuse for it towards the end, but honestly that didn't excuse her nastiness.

But all is forgiven because Dallas knits! And he makes hats for himself and Diana. :)
