Frostblood by Elly Blake
3.0
Elemental magic. Romance. War torn society. Them against us. Young, beautiful heroine. Bad guy who may or may not be bad...
Yes, as others have pointed out, if you enjoy YA fantasy, you've probably pretty much read this book already. It has a lot of the cliche's that you find in other novels of the genre. So if you are looking for a gripping new series that will send you down the rabbit hole of book-binging obsession, this is probably not for you. BUT if you are looking for an easy to read fantasy as a quick pick-me-up that satisfies your need to read, this is perfect!
The book was well-written in grammar, structure, and style. There was no point while reading it that I was annoyed with endless mistakes, poor wording, cliche phrases, or plot holes. Everything flowed smoothly. The plot lines, character development, and word building were all very good.... it's just very similar to every other YA fantasy!
My advice is to go into this book with the right expectations. If you are a YA fantasy fan, go into it for a quick read while waiting for the next book in your fav series to debut. It'll keep you pleasantly occupied. If the genre is relatively new for you, ignore everything I've just said and enjoy the splendors of the genre! The book could very well hook you in!
