Captain Grimm of the Predator is a pirate but when his ship is badly damaged during his most recent raid he's not sure how he'll be able to afford the repairs. Bridget, Gwen and Benedict are training to be Albion spire guards when they are sucked into a vital mission aboard the Predator that Grimm has been offered in exchange for restoring his ship to fully functional. It's a dangerous mission filled with Aetherists and talking cats all to figure out who attacked the spire and where they disappeared to.
I really liked Rowl's(cat) interactions with everyone, he's probably my favorite part of the story, but the mission and the abilities of the aetherists are interesting. The characters are just a little on the flat side but that could have been the narrator I was listening to and not the authors fault.
