This was a gorgeous, tragic story that was ultimately filled with hope. And I found a lot to relate to, as my family also immigrated to the U.S. from Taiwan in the 60s, down to Liv’s grandma telling her she was an expert in technology (my grandma tells me the same thing, and I’m far from it, lol).
This story made me tear up, smile, and laugh. I couldn’t stop turning the pages, I was riveted by what was going to happen next, what else was going to be revealed. My family never shared much of Taiwanese history with me, only tidbits here and there, and I learned quite a bit from reading about the characters’ lives in Taiwan.
This book is told from multiple POVs.
Overall, loved this, and I’m going to give my grandma a hug now.
