Blood in the Machine: The Origins of the Rebellion Against Big Tech by Brian Merchant

3.0

Too long, as most nonfiction books aiming at a wide audience inexplicably are these days. Because the author is not trying to approach the level of depth academic research has, the length here makes his writing needlessly repetitive. I would have preferred less jumping around from different narratives, less dialogue from questionable historical sources, and more outright analysis. That said, anytime spent in 1800s Britain is time well spent for me and I do think the argument he makes against technological determinism is an important one.
