Story: Substance, Structure, Style, and the Principles of Screenwriting by Robert McKee

3.0

While there are some valuable insights and worthwhile observations overall this is less a book about screening and more about the movie making business with a focus on the script. I found the endless lists and references to genres and various films and box office performance tedious and ill-suited to a book about 'Story', at least the preponderance of said material.

I think writers would be better served reading Syd Field's book vs tackling this tome. However, if you are more of a generalist with an interest in the film business then you will likely find this more worth your time.
