I waited a couple weeks to really digest this, and it’s probably my only written out review I’ll ever do on this app.
The chapters about women’s bodily mutilation and the perils of patriarchy for all genders were excellent. The foot binding chapter made me nauseous; a testament to her writing and point. And hot take: she’s right about porn!!
The mythology/fairytale framework was not for me but I can respect the aim. The last chapter, like so many people have said, was bad and had bad ideas. I think I read she has recanted it….? I hope so. So for that alone I will bring the rating down. Without that chapter it would have been a 4 star for me.
